Most women have monthly menstrual cycles. This requires a monthly supply of feminine hygiene products. Women make up 32% of the homeless population. Feminine hygiene products are essential, but are rarely donated to homeless shelters and women’s resource centers. As a result, acquiring basic feminine hygiene supplies every month is a silent struggle for many homeless and poor women in our communities. The inability to meet this basic, recurring need is often a private, humiliating disgrace.
“Supply Our Sisters” (SOS) is a month-long collection of pads and tampons. Eight churches in the Bluffton and Pandora communities are participating. Donations will be distributed to The Samaritan House and Crossroads Crisis Center in Lima, Ohio.
Please place your donations in the box located at the back of the 1st UMC sanctuary throughout March. Questions? Contact Amy Mikesell at amymikesel (at) gmail.com.
